Special Listening
Just a reminder that wonderful videos and audio recordings of professional performers can be seen/heard on YouTube. Use this as the Special Listening assignment for each week. This month's famous performer is Maxim Vengreov (see notes below).
Paganini, Caprice #24: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsJdLv38fy8
Wieniawski Variations, Op. 15: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9uj_Xe7I7s
Brahms, Hungarian Dance, No. 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ddzG9M-BeI
Monti, Csardas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n0qXSO7Z-Q (neat video with Bass duo accompaniment/collaboration)
There as so many recordings of him - enjoy looking around and learning more about this great artist of our time.
Enjoy!
Please share these with the kids.
Maxim Vengerov (1974 - )
Few violinists appear so effortless in performance than Russian Maxim Vengerov, another prodigy made good. Oh, and he’s the first musician to be made an International Goodwill Ambassador by UNICEF.
Parent Education
I have loaded several articles to the Library & Downloads page in your MMS portal with articles and handouts for parents. Find a title that interests you and read it! So glad that several of you are taking advantage of these articles. If you haven't downloaded any of them yet, I highly encourage you to take a moment this month to choose one and read it. There is so much value in motivation for the Suzuki parent. Let these articles give you that value!!
A few months ago, I posted about a book I learned about this past summer, The Self-Driven Child. It so happens that the Cary Magazine, featured a review of this book in it previous edition. I have scanned and uploaded this review to the folder in your MMS portal. Take the time to download and read this review. It is a great overview of the highlights from the book. Use this review to know if reading the book might be a helpful parenting step for your family.
